Day Seventeen of LOCKDOWN!

It was a beautifully sunny (and hot - 20 degrees!) Maundy Thursday...

Zachary was very pleased to receive a card in the post this morning -it was an encouraging message from his Sunday School teachers

Colouring the next pages of their Holy week book

Playing with the toy cars is very popular in our house

Helping with chores: lining up the shoes

Getting the dry washing down and carrying it upstairs

On Maundy Thursday, we traditionally have a 'Passover meal', just like Jesus and his disciples did the night before he was crucified. This involves eating lamb and bread and drinking wine/grape juice, while we read some passages from the Bible.

Making the final embellishments for our passion cake

The finished cake; there are 3 crosses because two thieves were crucified either side of Jesus

Making flatbreads

Kneading the dough

Laying the table for our meal

Tasty lamb tagine

Daddy explains about the bread and wine representing Jesus' body and blood

Tasting the grape juice; Zachary was particularly fond of it

They all loved the meal, especially the flatbreads

Yummy

Ptolemy kept asking for more bread

Not very civilised

Enjoying some passion cake

Nearly half gone!

Unfortunately putting our papier mache balloon in the hot playroom was a bad idea; however, it was a good opportunity to learn about why gases expand

Garden games in the sun - having a race

Zachary made a solar system diagram with average temperature ranges of the planets

An egg and spoon race

Egg throwing competition - who can get theirs closest to the big yellow one?

Easter crafts: making a Passover meal plate and cup; Jory did a maze

His finished cup and plate

Sticking it all together

About to enjoy her bread and wine

Playing an Easter Bunny Drive game; Ptolemy has just thrown the die into the air

It was Zachary's turn to open the Resurrection egg; this time, it was a cocktail stick, to represent the spear that was put into Jesus' side after he died

Jory was upset that it wasn't his turn to open the egg
