What we've been up to...#5

Here we are enjoying our stay at Grandma Jeanette and Grandad Harry's house in Leyland, Lancashire. We have been making the most of the excellent weather (this year is an extended heatwave, woohoo!).

Fun in the playground at Worcester Woods Country Park on the way

These aren't the sleeping arrangements -Tahlia likes to try out different beds during the night

The 19th July was the birthday of both Zachary and Auntie Marilla. Here they are enjoying their day.

Lots of cards and presents waiting to be opened

A beautiful lotus flower Vietnamese pop up card

Zachary had an amazing Vietnamese Ferris wheel from Uncle Bar

Zachary's favourite present (accidentally doubled, but they have still all been fighting over them)

Special birthday sandwiches made by Auntie Marilla

We celebrated their birthdays by visiting Bolton Abbey for a lovely day in the sun.

A break by the river

These stepping stones are a lot further apart than they first appear and the water is a lot deeper than it looks!

Some child friendly stepping stones on the 'muddy' welly trail (no mud today though!)

One of the  many activities on the welly trail

They all loved this mini climbing dome

It's very easy to get stuck in a spider net

Even our little Beeb had a go

Japanese style Marilla for her birthday

The beautiful Bolton Abbey ruins

Back home for some birthday trifle

Enjoying playing with one of his many presents

Leyland and the surrounding area has a myriad of amazing playgrounds nearby, so we have been doing some exploring...

Jory climbs up to the basket

Uncle Bar helps him reach the top basket

Garstang featured its own fantastic scarecrow trail. It was great fun following the map to find all of the wonderful creations.

Tahlia found Bill and Ben

Some beautiful handmade roses in their pots

Playing in the Garstang playground

Ptolemy says "wee!" very well

Spongebob Squarepants

Thomas and the Fat Controller

Tahlia liked Shaun the Sheep and Timmy

The Post Office's scarecrow offering

Impossible to get four of them all looking and smiling at the same time

Tahlia had no idea who this funny looking family was...

...But she did know this family very well

Papier mache Mr Potato Head

"I'm Stick Man!"

Tahlia adores Paw Patrol - Marshall and Chase

Daddy's favourite - the Three Blind Mice

Here's another day trip, this time to the brilliant Green Fayre at Beacon Country Park:

Holding hands (a rare occasion)

The dog show was great, with dogs jumping through fire!

Jousting - the French knight

The English knight

Tahlia bought some beautiful new bows

Tahlia loves dressing up and has found Auntie Marilla's old crowns

Back at Worden Park (we also enjoyed the hedge maze, walled garden and furry animals)

Back and forth together

Standing as the tyre swings around

Another trip to make the most of the good weather was to Cleveleys beach. The water was lovely and warm but we had to watch out for jellyfish!

Jory loves to eat sand

Building a sandcastle

Fun rides at the amusements

Doing the slots

Up, down and around

We had a wonderful day at Brimham Rocks in Yorkshire. It was a fair drive but was worth the effort to see and climb the interesting rock formations. Our main complaint was that the sign for the toilets was at the car park (making you think they were nearby) but the actual toilets were miles away, at the end of the walk!

The twins absolutely adored all of the climbing

Hiding in a gap

Tahlia scrambles to the top

Amazing rock formations

Ptolemy had a little climb too

Tahlia and Jory reached the top of this viewpoint without any help

Squeezing through a small gap

Cuddles with Grandma Jeanette (also known as Dette)

Making his way down from the top

Exploring the small caves

Princess of the rocks

Using Uncle Bar's foot to help reach the top

Tahlia checks out the chasm below

Tahlia has grown a lot recently...
