Day Forty Six of LOCKDOWN!

The kids were pleased to have Batman running their PE class today

Working hard on Joe's exercises

Pleased with their new bunting

We enjoyed going on a local flag/bunting hunt

They can't resist walking on the walls - it's the new playground

Pointing out the flags

They were pleased to find some interesting painted pictures

We talked about evacuees during WW2 and coloured some pictures

We talked about the 'Dig For Victory' campaign and enjoyed a 'wartime' lunch...

Carrot scones, potato cakes, oat bread, salad veg and fruit, with blackberry cordial.

Jory enjoyed his carrot scones

Tahlia liked the oat bread best; Ptolemy and Zachary most enjoyed the potato cakes

Trying some blackberry cordial

Afterwards, we had a taste of our eggless chocolate and beetroot cake - it was very good

Jory ate all his cake pretty fast

Zachary filled in a ration book and looked at the foods that were rationed

We did a treasure hunt searching for WW2 timeline cards

Zachary had a great time putting them all in order; it took quite a while

Ptolemy loves treasure hunts

Practising their balancing skills!

Complete! He really liked going through all the events and countries involved

Listening to an air raid siren

Watching a video about evacuees

We made our own spitfire and had a go at flying it

Building an Anderson shelter in the garden

Finished!

Tahlia spent a while making it more comfortable

Playing with his spitfire

Staying safe

Snuggling up in the shelter

After seeing photos of George VI  and the Queen Mother on the balcony, Zachary wanted to check the details of other kings and queens from his poster

We watched the VE footage on BBC1; they were good with social distancing

Tahlia compares her minion to the Queen's Guard

Zachary wondered why the Red Arrows were showing a French flag
