Day Eighty One of LOCKDOWN - 10 Year Wedding Anniversary Special Part 1

We didn't mention it yesterday, but the special girly time and boy time were in fact a 'hen do' and 'stag do'. Today, we had our own special 'wedding day' to celebrate our ten year anniversary.

A very comfy breakfast

Tahlia made a wedding card to give us later

Since we've taken part in every PE with Joe, we couldn't miss it today!

It was fancy dress Friday and today Joe was a kangaroo!

Ptolemy enjoys doing a jigsaw

Wedding cake colouring

We watched a slideshow of photos from Mummy and Daddy's wedding -they loved seeing some familiar faces

Ptolemy names everyone in the photo

Zachary did a comprehension about the history of marriage, in particular, the old custom of handfasting

Looking at the changing wedding dress styles through the ages; Tahlia also particularly liked looking at these

More wedding colouring

This was a lengthy comprehension about the customs and traditions associated with weddings

We made our own peg doll bride and groom to go somewhere special

Ready for the wedding!

Jory and Ptolemy also enjoyed making some little people

Adding the finishing touches to the wedding cake
We made some place names for the table

Using wedding themed stamps to decorate

We enjoyed a tasty party lunch

Mummy and Daddy tried some cheeses from Darts Farm. Our favourites were Doddington, Riseley Raw Ewe's and Dorstone goat's cheese.

Getting ready for the ceremony

The father of the bride a.k.a Ptolemy, helped the bride downstairs

Walking down the aisle, followed by the bridesmaid

Sitting during the ceremony
Jory was the best man and was responsible for the rings

Wedding rings at the ready; Jory handed them over at the right time

Zachary was the Minister and read the Bible passages and vows. The service also included hymns, prayers and showing the children our signed marriage certificate.

Daddy put some nice backgrounds on the readings

Listening carefully

Next it was time for the cutting of the cake...

Cutting the wedding cake; someone else liked the look of it

The kids had fun throwing confetti over us

Jory loved it the most

Ready to celebrate with champagne

Cheers!

Yummy

The official photographs (unfortunately it was pouring with rain outside)

We played some of the games we had at our wedding; here is musical chairs

Dashing to get a seat

The bride has to guess which is the groom and give him a kiss!

The tossing of the bouquet

Then everyone wanted a turn

They had fun laying the table; we used the same centrepiece we had at our wedding

We had beef bourguinon for our reception meal (as we did on our real wedding day)

A slice of wedding cake followed, with layers of coffee, chocolate brownie and orange

Lastly, it was time to open the wedding gifts!

There was an array of wedding presents, including some new devices for the kitchen and some new things for the kids

He won't accept any help

They all try to work out what this is!
Opening Tahlia's wedding card

Ptolemy was delighted to get two new additions to his collection: Iron Man and Green Goblin

He also had an Iron Man mask...

...and a Nerf blaster!

Zachary's new space jigsaw

Tahlia liked her new sunglasses and Lego men

Jory loves the new schoolhouse with little people, playground equipment and magnetic letters; he also had a flags jigsaw

Zachary loves his new PE with Joe t-shirt

Daddy had a hamper of tasty things
In the evening, Daddy revealed that he'd put together a special quiz for Mummy to do with five rounds: Photos of places we've visited, music from films we've seen, Game of Thrones quotes, board game Dingbats and music from TV programmes we've watched together. Mummy was very excited!
