I'm writing this blog post so that when my grandchildren (or others of that generation) ask me what it was like during the Coronavirus pandemic, I'll have something to show them. There are currently 416,066 confirmed cases worldwide and there have been 18,571 deaths. Last night, Boris Johnson announced that from today we are in lockdown - no one must leave their house, except for buying food and medicine, necessary work and once a day for exercise (alone or with members of your household). People are not permitted to gather in groups of more than two and the police are making sure people are following the rules.
Zachary (age 7) is particularly interested in all the stats, so he's constantly checking the data and maps. He's a very indoors kind of person, so is quite pleased at not having to go out. However, it's only day one, and the lockdown will be in place for at least the next three weeks.
Zachary's other three siblings, Tahlia and Jory age nearly 5 and Ptolemy age 3, may not quite enjoy it as much.
We home educate, but our life is normally nothing like this - usually we are constantly out and about at various groups and clubs. We are however finding it easier to keep on top of the housework and the house has been at its tidiest recently.
Here are some photos from our first day of lockdown:

We began our day with our first ever live PE with Joe session |
|
It was good fun and nicely varied - Zachary in particular very much enjoyed it - we'll try to get a shout out for him another time |
|
After doing some 'schoolwork', we moved onto making some cool paper spinners, which they could manage to spin themselves |
|
Then we baked some lemon cakes, as we had some spare lemons to use |
|
Notice all the gaps! |

Daddy was working from home in the afternoon, but we had lots of fun playing games in the garden... |
|
Including an egg and spoon race (which involved lots of cheating!) |
Jory was keen to play 'duck, duck, goose', so we all joined in, running in a circuit through the lounge, dining room and back to the playroom. Unfortunately Tahlia didn't see Jory standing in her way and they bumped heads - ouch!

Quite a lump! |
All in all, today went very well and they enjoyed a good play in the garden. I'm currently planning lots of activity days with various themes, so we'll hopefully keep busy. Daddy's workload is still looking good, although he'll have some time off over the Easter holidays which will be nice for the kids.
Nice activities. I'm reading and drinking Corona right now! (the beer not the virus) see ya later,
