Guest Blog: The Perks of Being a Babysitter

Last Saturday morning me (Phoebe) and Vicky had the joy of looking after Zachary, so we took him to one of our favourite places- IKEA. Why take a baby there? Vicky needed a photoframe and we knew the store would provide enough entertainment for an eleven month old (and judging by his smiling face in the photos, he really was entertained).

Zachary’s reaction when he found out he was going to IKEA!

One particular highlight- for us adults anyway- was parking in the buggy friendly parking space - what a novelty! Zachary wasn’t fussed as we drove around and around until we found one of the spaces we were entitled to.

What did Zachary get up to? He loved eating lunch in the big cafeteria and, for once, most of his food didn’t end up on the floor.

“Next time I’ll nab one of those yummy looking meatballs”

Zachary tried out lots of the toys in the kids’ department. He wasn’t so sure about the reindeer rocker but loved the orange chair – perfect for ‘peek-a-boo’ games.

By far, Zachary’s favourite toy was the mirror with foam doors - his ‘lift-the-flap’ books had come alive! Zachary played ‘peek-a-boo’ with himself for ages and seemed upset when we moved on - could this be a possible birthday present?!

Tired from all the fun in the kids’ department, Zachary fell asleep in his pushchair as we walked around the ground floor. We didn’t mind though as it gave us a chance to have an energy boosting coffee!

Once Zachary stirred we headed home and were back in time for Mummy and Daddy to hear all about Zachary’s exciting adventure. What a lovely trip!

Summer Has Come (And Gone!)

We've been out and about recently enjoying several days of sun in a row (before the rain returned). Here are some of the highlights...

Daddy has had a few extra days off recently as he has finished teaching and his students have been having their exams. We walked along the Taff Trail to Taffs Well for a lovely picnic.

Zachary and Mummy both eat bread rolls

Zachary's got his hat on, hip hip hip hooray!

The way back along the river - watching for the trains

When the sun comes out, it calls for a spontaneous BBQ!

Zachary loves all the attention he gets at group events

He can't resist climbing on Mummy's back

The wonderful sunny weather continued and we paid a visit to Bute Park...

Zachary has also very much enjoyed meeting up with a few of his friends this week...

A lovely Saturday in St Fagans

The weather is stunning and we have been making the most of it by getting out and about in Cardiff. Last Saturday Daddy had a lot of marking to do so Zachary and I paid a visit to St Fagans with Auntie Beckrum and Auntie Phobe.

The gardens at St Fagans are beautiful and we stopped for a rest and a picnic...

Zachary and Elijah

We had a lovely bank holiday weekend and enjoyed visiting Dan and Jo Cruse, who have a little boy, Elijah, who is 19 months. It was also nice to see Marni and Miriam again. Zachary had a great time playing with Elijah and crawling around some different surroundings.

The tortoise and the hare

We had a delicious BBQ courtesy of Dan (and Elijah's constant attempts to help). Zachary tried a sausage and very much enjoyed it.

Trying to unstack the pile of kindling

Out came the ball pool tent and the boys had a lovely time playing in and around it...

Zachary loves to chew on plastic balls

Zachary tries to stand himself up on the side of the tent and over it goes...

Elijah is tired and a little upset; Zachary is distracted by the balls

Zachary attempts to comfort him, but only makes things worse by grabbing his ear

Out comes the sun cream

Then we headed back inside for some song time...
